What Is a Purse?

purse

A purse is a bag that a person uses to carry their personal items such as money, jewelry and other small accessories. It is a medium to large bag, mainly used by females.

The term “purse” originally meant a small bag that held coins, however, this definition has changed over the years. Today, a handbag is the term used to describe a larger bag that can hold more than just money.

Purses are usually made of leather or a combination of leather and cloth. They come in different designs and can be worn as a cross body, shoulder or wrist strap.

When shopping for a purse, look for one that has a few key features. These include:

Lightweight – When the purse is empty, it should weigh no more than 10 pounds. This will alleviate strain on the shoulders and arms.

Equidistant stitching – Stitching that is evenly spaced throughout the bag is a sign of a quality design. If the bag has uneven stitching, it is likely to break down in the future.

Clean – It is important to clean your purse regularly. This will help keep it looking like new and prevent it from getting dirty.

Use a lint roller to remove any lint or dust from the inside of the bag and a soft brush attachment of your vacuum to get rid of any dirt that has built up on the outside. A mild alcohol-free baby wipe is also a great way to gently clean the lining and exterior of your bag.
