What is a Purse?

A purse is a type of small, compact bag that can be carried on your hand or on your shoulder. They can be made of a variety of materials and are used to carry money, identification documents, and other paraphernalia. These bags can be purchased in a wide range of colours, sizes, and styles.

Purses have a long history and can be found in many regions throughout the world. In the United States, they are most common in the Midwest, Southwest, and Southeast. However, they are also available in the Northeast and Western U.S.

The purse was originally a small bag for coins and other valuable items. It was originally crafted out of leather. As time went on, it began to incorporate other materials.

In the early middle ages, it was common for both men and women to carry purses. Their design consisted of a drawstring at the top and a girdle-like strap that tied around the owner’s waist.

This concept was later adapted into a pouch-like, wallet-like device. The purse evolved to hold identification documents, bank cards, and cash.

Purses became a fashion accessory in the 19th century when women were encouraged to wear more modern, slim dresses. At this time, luggage makers began creating purses for women to travel by train.

During World War II, purses started to undergo a change. New models had a wider bottom and were secured by a metal clasp. Some were hung from the owner’s girdle by a metal loop at the top.
