What is a Handbag?

A handbag is a medium to large bag used to carry personal items such as money, keys, wallets, cosmetics and cell phones. It is often carried with handles or a shoulder strap and can be made of a wide variety of materials.

Purse vs. handbag

The word purse originally referred to small bags designed for carrying cash, but it has become synonymous with larger handbags. This is because many women view the terms as being interchangeable.

Types of purses

Size, shape, and number of compartments vary greatly in handbags. Some are extremely small and impractical, while others are enormous and can hold all the essentials. They can be made of a variety of materials, including leather, synthetics, and fabrics.

Evening bags

A decorative handheld bag or clutch that is used during formal evenings or parties, usually embellished with sequins or pearls is an evening bag. They are a must-have accessory for any woman who loves to look and feel their best.

Tote bags

A large, unstructured bag with a flap or top handle that is typically used for shopping, and sometimes without a closure, is called a tote bag. These bags are popular in both casual and business-casual styles and can be made of a wide variety and colors.

Messenger bag

A rectangular bag that has a flap that fastens over the top and a long shoulder strap to be worn over one or both shoulders is a messenger bag. They are popular for casual and business-casual use, but aren’t suitable for semi-formal or formal dress codes.
